    1) Sunset on Lamplight Lane
    The
    Lamplight Lane
series is perhaps my most popular celebration of the charms of rural England. My oldest, Merritt, was five when I painted the first "Lamplight Lane" painting; soon she'll be a high school graduate. I even included a small rowing skiff, named "Miss Merritt", to symbolize the journey into life that Merritt is embarking upon.
    Sunset on Lamplight Lane
refers both to the radiant sunset that bathes the village in myriad reflections, and to the completion of the final work in an epic series of paintings.
    2) The Cross
As part of the redesign of the Billy Graham Library in Charlotte, North Carolina, I was asked to provide an image for use on a large wall. A very large wall – truly a moment of destiny for any artist. To create the oil painting that would be the basis for the final mural, I utilized one of the largest canvases I have ever attempted in my studio. A full 6 feet wide, this canvas would be enlarged to create the final epic sized mural. As I worked it was as if heavenly light began to pour upon the canvas.A final aspect of the creative process came when Franklin Graham himself suggested a fitting title for the work:
    The Cross
. This simple title reflects the lifelong calling and legacy of his father, the evangelist Billy Graham. My prayer is that this painting will bring hope to many just as Billy Graham has brought hope to millions through the gospel message.
    3)
    Sweetheart Cottage II
For the second work in my
    Sweetheart Cottages
collection, I've conjured a vision of a perfect romantic hideaway. "Falbrooke Thatch" is nestled right next to a charming little waterfall, with an arched footbridge leading from the front door over the falls. I've devoted "Falbrooke Thatch" to Valentine's Day (note the 214 address just below the heart-shaped window) and to romance. In fact, I've hidden hearts throughout the painting. The more hearts you can find, the more romantic you are.
    4) The Valley of Peace
Autumn is a special time of year.
    The Valley of Peace
marks the first time I've featured the golden beauty of aspen trees in my mountainscapes. Nature has her garden spots; this is one of them. Here, truly, is a perfect retreat for the dreamer who lives in all our hearts.
    5) Hometown Evening
I remember wandering the lanes of my hometown on a Sunday evening, drawn as if by magnetic attraction toward the heart of the village.
    Hometown Evening
    , third in my
    Hometown Memories
collection is enriched by intense childhood memories, although I've chosen to turn the clock back a few decades… I did that to heighten the nostalgia, and to give myself the chance to paint some of my favorite vintage cars.
