    Description

Nice example of silver-gold ore from the Rescue-Eula mine, Tonopah district, Nye Co., Nevada. Self collected from stockpiles by the shaft, which is pretty dangerous and fenced off! 7 x 5.5 x 2.5 cm.
Cut end piece, comprised of sugary to massive, low-sulfidation epithermal quartz with abundant clots and disseminated acanthite, pyrite, and potential other fine, unidentified silver sulfides-sulfosalts. Most of the silver mineralization is concentrated in one band. Nice example of ore from this district!
The Rescue shaft went down over 1,000 feet but the mine produced only a small amount of ore. Much of the quartz encountered was low grade and complex faulting broke up the veins. Regardless, the dumps are large and the silver bearing quartz produced was clearly placed in segregated dumps.
