    Description

    Original and authentic Civil War Union enlistedman's forage cap with rare brass ventilator and company "G" & "8" pins. The kepi or cap is still holding up as best as it can, yet obviously has some worn condition issues. There are sporadic moth holes all around and some considerable fabric loss in the rear. The chin strap and two side eagle buttons are MIA. The inner liner has become separated a bit from the brim on the inside as well as from a portion of the back of the cap. You can also notice the inner liner through some of the holes and gaps of fabric loss from the back of the cap. The brass vintilator is a very neat addition to the cap as you rarely see these decices attached - also a small yet comforting notion to have as a soldier back in the CW fighting days. It may not be the prettiest of Civil War headgears, but it is still a genuine and authentic forage cap and priced accordingly. I have tried to capture as much of the flaws as possible. Please see pictures for condition. Selling as is since I do not feel the need to have it restored.
