This is the first independent issue by Banka Nistriana (Central Bank of Trnasnistria)  Untill this issue they used a stamp attached to the old USSR currency.
Transnistria is an independent entity with the population of 700,000 people, which is de-facto is a 16th independent country formed after the break up of the old Soviet Union.  It has its own president, parlament, capital, currency, military and police forces.
