Circa 1775 Colonial King George III, 1/2 Penny. Copper. KM #601. Great Britain

Description

This is an old, copper, 1/2 penny from Great Britain, dated somewhere between 1770-1775.  The front shows a right-facing King George III, dressed like a Roman Emperor.  The edges are supposed to read "Georgius III REX", but the "REX" is barely visible.  The back shows a very worn, seated Brittania, facing left, holding a trident and olive branch with a shield (Union flag) and date.  For the date, the bottom is worn and you can't make out the last number, but the first 3 look like "177".  The edge is supposed to read "Britan" along the left and "Nia" along the right edge, but you can really only make out the "BR".  There is a tiny hole drilled at the top of the King's head.  The coin measures 29 mm in diameter.  I would say it's in fair condition at best.
