If you're looking for out-of-the-ordinary specimens loaded with gold, check this one out. Host quartz is part of the union, yet gold is the more dominant, abundant mineral here. Once you get a chance to examine it close up through a loupe, you'll hardly believe your eyes. The character and purity of the gold is truly stunning. Oxidation staining only adds to it's distinctiveness. Note the size and weight (1.23 gram). My source says it hails from California's Mother Lode. The Sierra Nevada Mtns. yielded large numbers of placer quartz specimen nuggets.
For those who've kept track of my store, you'll know I don't sell low-grade specimens. For one thing, if it shows gold, it can't be low grade ore.
I deal in authentic, naturally-occurring ores with visible gold. These high-grade beauties are hard to find and expensive to obtain. Prices aren't based upon the amount of gold contained, but upon the authenticity, rarity, and collectability of these unique pieces.

I poured through old mining dumps for years looking at orange-yellow-rusty rock through a loupe, but I never found a piece with visible gold.
Hydrothermal solutions carrying gold and silica crystallized into veins of gold quartz. This specimen comes from one of the many gold-bearing vein systems of California, The Golden State.

CHASING COLOR
Since the beginning of this enterprise,
I viewed my own experiences chasing color in the western U.S.
and British Columbia as advantageous.
Seemingly, lots of gold dealers are dealers only,
either inexperienced at prospecting and mining, or unwilling to share
what they know. Past ventures in the field detecting, drywashing, sluicing, and dredging endowed me with a unique insight into the diverse world of wild gold.
My exploits created a base of knowledge founded upon
years of digging holes, slinging dirt, crawling on hands and knees, swinging a pickaxe, under-cutting banks,
chucking rocks, and freezing my
you know what off underwater in a myriad of craggy creek and river-bottoms.
Adding to my credentials, that is, the many physical aspects of prospecting and mining were years living in close proximity
to and surrounded by throngs of snowbirds, fellow prospectors, rock-hounds, nature-lovers,
and other artist-types many of whom were following their
own elusive dreams whether jewelry-making or digging fossils, agates,
thunder eggs, gemstones, gold, et al. Many vendors dealt in
specialty wares, antiquities,
hand-crafted artwork, beads, or maybe sold imported goods gathered from all
over the world. If you've not been to Quartzsite,
that's some of what you'll discover down in the Arizona outback.
I've really appreciate all my wonderful customers these past 20 years here on Ebay. While mining for gold was the proverbial owl's hoot,
it's folks like you who make mining miners almost as much fun as actually mining gold.
Thanks for checking out our digs.
