If you're looking for out-of-the-ordinary specimens, check this one out. a shimmering black mineral, possibly petzite or sylvanite, is associated with the gold. Note the size and weight. My source says it's from California's Mother Lode. The Sierra Nevada Mtns. are famed for it's large number of small, hard-rock mines. The gold contained in this nice pebble is quite pure and visible to the naked eye. You won't need a pocket lens. The rock hosting the gold is comprised of silicate mineral, namely quartz.
For those who've kept track of my store, you'll know I don't sell low-grade specimens. For one thing, if it shows gold, it can't be low grade ore.
I deal in authentic, naturally-occurring ores with visible gold. These high-grade beauties are hard to find and expensive to obtain. Prices aren't based upon the amount of gold contained, but upon the authenticity, rarity, and collectability of these unique pieces.

I poured through old mining dumps for years looking at orange-yellow-rusty rock through a loupe, but I never found a piece with visible gold.
Hydrothermal solutions carrying gold and silica crystallized into veins of gold quartz. This specimen comes from one of the many gold-bearing vein systems of California, The Golden State.

CHASING COLOR
Since the beginning of this enterprise,
I viewed my experiences chasing color in the western U.S.
and British Columbia goldfields as extremely advantageous.
Seemingly, lots of gold dealers seem
inexperienced in the prospecting and mining arenas. Either that or they're just unwilling to share
what they know. Past ventures afield detecting, drywashing, sluicing, and dredging lent a certain degree of expertise to my own gold marketing aspirations
. That's when I opened up this Ebay store. Yet, prior to that, those
prospecting ventures I mentioned gave me special insight into gold
born from years of digging, shoveling dirt, crawling around on hands and knees swinging a rockhammer, under-cutting banks,
chucking rocks and freezing my
you know what off underwater in a myriad of creek and river-bottoms.
Combined with these actual mining exploits and adding to my accumulation of knowledge were years living in close proximity with
and surrounded by snowbirds; fellow prospectors, rock-hounds, nature-lovers,
and assorted artist-types many of whom were following their
own elusive dreams whether it be jewelry-making or digging fossils, agates,
thunder eggs, gemstones, gold, et al. Many vendors I met dealt in
specialty wares, antiquities,
hand-crafted artwork, and beads importing or mining minerals and goods gathered from all
over the world. If you've not been to Quartzsite,
that's some of what you'll discover there in the Arizona outback. It was very 'rough-cut' back in the early 1980s. In some ways, very basic, almost primitive, as can be attested to by the countless colorful characters I met who inhabited all the local digs.
I've really appreciated all my wonderful customers these past 20 years here on Ebay. While mining for gold was the owl's hoot,
it's folks like you who make mining miners almost as much fun as actual mining.
Thanks for checking out our digs.
